New Atheism For Old

"Atheism turns out to be too simple. If the whole universe has no meaning, we (would) ... never have found out that it has no meaning..." CS Lewis in Mere Christianity

The much-touted "new atheism" casts as irrelevant that which ought to be (at least) thought about. New atheism characterizes religious thought as something unreasonable, unrewarding and vaporous as a sitcom.  New atheism casts  Ultimate Things as secondary.  Pity, that.

"The human mind has no more power of inventing a new value than of planting a new sun in the sky or a new primary colour in the spectrum..."
CS Lewis
in Christian Reflections.
